Chickens

I am holding Chrysanthemum.

I am holding Chrysanthemum.

You’ll never believe what we did today! We got chicken chicks! We’ve had chickens before in our old house. Our first batch got eaten by raccoons (I know it’s terrible!) and then we had to give our second batch to my great uncle when we moved because he has a farm. So we haven’t had chickens for a while. UNTIL NOW! We got 3 chicks. Chrysanthemum (mine), Esmerelda (mommy’s), and Lucy. Chickens rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, Claire. In 5,4,3,2,1,0. Hi, Claire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
Your chicks are so cute! I was reading your blog, and I read that Chrysanthemum is your chick, Esmerelda is your mom’s, but is Lucy your dad’s? And our little kitten is named Lucie but as you can see, our Lucie is spelled L-U-C-I-E.

Genevieve:)

(By the way, lovely names!Chicks rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hi GG! Lucy isn’t my dad’s. He didn’t want to have a chicken of his own. Thanks for commenting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Claire, why did you name the chick such a long name but at least its not as long as antidisestablishmentarianism. Which is 28 letters. But Chrysanthemum is still really long with 13 letters my name only has 5!

I used to keep chickens and enjoyed reading about yours. Great names! I wrote about my chickens in creative nonfiction called Chicken Chronicles. If you’d like to see my experiences, please check out my blog at http://www.jlcppq.wordpress.com. I’m currently writing about my first batch of chickens (named Red, Green, Blue, and Nothing—for a good reason which I explain) and later will write about my second batch (the main pair of which were called Sherlock and Agatha). Ultimately, I decided not to get more chickens because where I live there are too many predators. But I kind of miss them.
